A referral from your local GP is not required but if you have one, then part of the cost of your consultation may be rebatable through medicare.
Consultation:
The initial consultation is very important. It usually lasts 45-60min. Australia Plastic Surgery’s surgeons will help you to make the right decision about your health by choosing the treatment which is right for you.
Australia Plastic Surgery’s surgeons will listen to you carefully and discuss together your goals and expectations. All the latest information, science and technology in Advanced cosmetic surgery will be explained thoroughly to you in a simple and effective way, including the surgical and non surgical "soft treatment" options. Our consultation is designed to facilitate good communication, which we believe is the key to making successful choices. As a patient, you will spend a considerable amount of time with Dr Barnouti and Dr Kohout, as well as with office staff preparing and planning for your procedure.
When you come in for your initial consultation, you will receive a very informative education. This education explains the advanced cosmetic surgery techniques used at Australia Plastic Surgery, the science behind it and the 21st century approaches for aging & rejuvenation.
Usually a computer simulation is done, to make sure that the patient and the surgeon share the same vision of the treatment.
You will also be shown comparisons of pre and post procedure results, as well as photos of the procedure itself to give you clear vision and understanding into the logic behind each surgical manoeuvre.
Don't hesitate to ask any question. You will find the consultation being highly informative, professional, relaxing and non stressful.
At Australia Plastic Surgery, our surgeons advise you to bring with you images of yourself, preferably not smiling, of when you were younger (20-30 years of age), Australia Plastic Surgery’s surgeons will study these photographs to determine the volumes and shapes needed to restore the healthy, desirable structure of youth. It will also be helpful to bring images from magazines of someone whom you find aesthetically pleasing. This is to aid in analysing the shape and dimensions of the face and body that you desire to achieve and to give us the chance to understand what you consider desirable.

Understanding the Treatments
The Treatments at Australia Plastic Surgery is simplified into 2 categories, soft touch treatment and surgical treatment:
Soft treatment
- injectable soft tissue fillers to treat wrinkles, improve skin quality and enhance facial structures like lips, eyebrow and other parts of the body. It also used to treat tear trough areas
- Antiwrinkle treatments to relax the muscles and improve skin wrinkles, targeted face and neck area
- Laser for skin rejuvenation. If you require Laser, we advise you to start Antiviral treatment one day before the procedure.
Dr Kohout and Dr Barnouti insist on performing these procedures themselves. Despite the extra time it takes, the surgeons feel that their in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy gained from their surgical experience allows for more refined injection techniques. The key to the injections is achievement of a balance between your upper and lower lips, while maintaining the appearance of a natural fullness.
The effects usually last three to six months, at which time another injection is required. After several treatments, the effects may begin to last longer, sometimes up to six to eight months. We recommend treatment every three months for the first year, and then repeat treatment as needed.
This treatment is provided at the same day of consultation in the office and may require local anaesthetics. You will be able to drive a car after the treatment.
Surgical treatment
If surgery planned, then our surgeons will give you specific instructions on how to prepare for surgery, including guidelines on eating and drinking, smoking, and taking or avoiding certain medications. Carefully following these instructions will help your surgery go more smoothly.
The Day of surgery
Many of our surgical procedures allow you to return home the same day, but some require you to stay in the hospital overnight.
- Minor surgery under local anaesthetics only: you are able to drive immediately, no need to fast unless otherwise specified, usually done in the Australia Plastic Surgery office. Click here to read more about "Local anaesthesic instruction"
- Any surgery that requires sedation or general anaesthetic: arrange for someone to drive you home after your surgery, need to fast for 6 hours before surgery, usually done in hospital settings.
After your surgery
When you return home after a procedure, you will always be given a card with information about your next visit, the phone numbers of the Australia Plastic Surgery clinic and of the surgeon involved, so that you can contact us both day and night. The operated site will be covered with dressing. Pain killers medication and or Antibiotics will be prescribed if found necessary.
A Postoperative instruction will be provided for you. (Bruising varies from person to person, generally lasts anywhere from two days to three weeks).
The dressing and stitches will be removed at our Australia Plastic Surgery clinic in the appropriate time depends on their locations.
Getting you back to work and normal activities
You will be given a specific instruction on when you can go back to work, what level of duties you can do and the time you recommence full duties. Generally, we encourage people especially those who feel ready to go out in public and back to work sooner rather than later. If you are to have a Complex Plastic surgery, you will probably be instructed to keep your activities to a minimum for few days especially activities that raise your blood pressure, including bending, lifting, and rigorous sports.
Time to Heal
Healing is a gradual process, and your scars may remain slightly pink for three to six months after surgery. Eventually, though, they'll fade to a thin, nearly invisible white line. On the other hand a quality plastic surgery will give you a youthful look that last for years. For most people, these results are permanent.
