Bio-stimulator injections are becoming increasingly popular at the Glebe Cosmetic Clinic. The injections work to tighten the skin by stimulating collagen production and restoring facial volume and radiant skin.

Areas that will benefit from Bio-Stimulators

  • Cheeks
  • Lower cheeks
  • Temples
  • Jawline
  • Neck
  • Abdomen
  • Arms
  • Legs
  • Acne scars
  • Cellulite
  • Hip dip (nonsurgical BBL)

How it works:

Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) is a collagen stimulator that works to revitalise collagen production and your skin’s volume and structure.

The full results of the treatment do take time as it is designed for your body to start re-producing more collagen. You will start to notice it working in around 6 – 12 weeks.

At 4 – 6 weeks after the initial injection, we proceed with a second booster shot which will enhance the first session, and most patients see full results 2 -3 months following their second round.

Once your results are showing they will continue for up to 2.5 years, but some patients may need one maintenance dose during that time.

Aftercare:

Apply an ice pack at short intervals, for up to 24 hours. This will help reduce any swelling.

Avoid makeup, retinoid creams, and heavy exercise for the first 24 hours. Alcohol dilates blood vessels, so it’s best to avoid it for as long as possible.

Until the swelling has subsided, avoid excessive sun, UV sunlamps and hot temperatures.

Each day for the first 5 days, massage the area for 5 minutes, 5 times per day.

Bio-stimulators are cosmetic injectables designed to improve skin laxity and restore volume by stimulating your body’s natural collagen production. Unlike traditional fillers that provide immediate volume, bio-stimulators (such as Poly-L-lactic acid) work gradually over several months to rebuild the underlying structure of the skin, leading to a more natural and long-lasting rejuvenation.

Bio-stimulators are highly versatile and can be used on both the face and body. Common treatment areas include the cheeks, temples, jawline, and neck. They are also effective for body contouring and skin tightening in areas such as the abdomen, arms, and legs, and can even be used to address the appearance of cellulite or hip dips.

As bio-stimulators rely on your body’s natural biological response to produce new collagen, results are not immediate. Most patients begin to notice a visible improvement in skin quality and volume within 6 to 12 weeks. Optimal results typically become apparent approximately 2 to 3 months after your second session.

While every patient’s needs are different, a standard treatment plan generally involves an initial injection followed by a “booster” session 4 to 6 weeks later. During your clinical consultation at our Glebe clinic, our practitioners will assess your skin and recommend a tailored programme based on your aesthetic goals.

One of the primary benefits of bio-stimulators is their longevity. Once the new collagen has been produced, results can last for up to 2.5 years. Some patients may choose to have a single maintenance dose during this period to sustain their results, though individual metabolism and lifestyle factors will influence the duration.

To support the best possible outcome, we recommend a “5-5-5” massage routine: massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for the first 5 days. You should also avoid heavy exercise, alcohol, and makeup for the first 24 hours. Applying a cold pack at short intervals for the first day can help manage any initial swelling.

Common side effects include temporary swelling, redness, bruising, or mild tenderness at the injection site. In some cases, small bumps may form under the skin, which is why the post-treatment massage is essential. All medical procedures carry risks, which will be discussed in detail during your mandatory consultation to ensure the treatment is suitable for you.
