Why do we need a Hydrating Skin Booster?

As we age, hyaluronic acid is lost and our skin’s dermis layer loses its smoothness and hydration.

The Glebe Cosmetic Clinic offers hydrating hyaluronic acid injections that even out the lines on the surface of the skin and significantly improve the skin texture. After a consultation, we choose the best type of skin booster to suit your need.

For many areas, we choose a non-cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid skin booster that includes a unique patented formula of effective natural components including Amino Acids, Antioxidants, Minerals, and Vitamins.

About the treatment

Small amounts of hyaluronic acid are injected into the area with an extra fine needle.

The treatment also includes the anesthetic lidocaine, to alleviate any discomfort.

The results of the skin booster treatment will be noticeable around 1 week and should be fully effective in 2 weeks.

Your skin booster treatment should last up to 9 months and the cost is variable due to the elasticity and hydration level of your skin.

Aftercare

For the first 24 hours following the procedure, you should avoid alcohol, exercise, and avoid applying makeup to the treated area.

For the following 2 weeks avoid extreme sun and freezing temperatures, UV light and saunas.

Hydrating skin boosters are a type of cosmetic injectable designed to restore deep hydration to the skin’s dermis. Unlike traditional fillers that add volume or contour, skin boosters use a thin consistency of Hyaluronic Acid—often combined with vitamins and antioxidants—to improve the skin’s overall texture, elasticity, and radiance. They act as an “internal moisturiser” to smooth out fine surface lines and revitalise dull skin.

Skin boosters are highly effective for areas prone to dryness and fine lines. Common treatment areas include the full face, under-eye area (for dark circles), and around the lips. They are also frequently used to rejuvenate the neck, décolletage, and the back of the hands, where skin often shows earlier signs of ageing.

The treatment involves a series of micro-injections into the skin using an extra-fine needle. To help manage discomfort during the procedure, the injectable solution typically contains a local anaesthetic. A typical session lasts approximately 30 minutes, following a thorough clinical consultation to determine the most suitable product for your skin type.

While some initial hydration may be visible within a few days, the full effects of the treatment usually become apparent after approximately two weeks. Results typically last up to 9 months, depending on your skin’s condition, age, and metabolism. Maintenance sessions are recommended periodically to sustain the skin’s hydration levels.

For optimal results, many patients benefit from an initial course of 2 to 3 sessions, spaced about 4 weeks apart. This allows for a cumulative improvement in skin quality. During your assessment at our Glebe clinic, our practitioners will recommend a personalised programme tailored to your specific hydration needs and aesthetic goals.

Downtime is minimal; however, for the first 24 hours, you should avoid alcohol, strenuous exercise, and the application of makeup to the treated area. For two weeks following the procedure, it is important to avoid extreme temperatures (such as saunas or freezing conditions) and over-exposure to UV light or sunbeds to support optimal recovery.

As with any injectable treatment, common side effects include temporary redness, swelling, bruising, or mild tenderness at the injection sites. These usually resolve within a few days. Rare but more serious complications will be discussed during your mandatory consultation. It is important to note that individual results vary and outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
