What is a Scar Revision?
Scar revision involves numbing the area and removing the old scar. This is usually done with multiple zig-zag pattern closure to provide the best results. It will create an improved scar; however the healing process ensures that it will be many weeks before the final scar becomes flat, loses its redness and begins to look improved. The healing will take a minimum of three months as the scar tissue must soften.
Who is a Good Candidate for Scar Revision?
Ideal candidates for scar revision surgery are those who have scars that are noticeable, raised, or causing functional issues (such as limiting movement). It is typically recommended for patients who are in good health, have realistic expectations, and have fully healed from their initial injury or surgery.
